Building and Maintaining Long-Term Relationships with Suppliers, Workers, and Communities

The global business landscape is increasingly recognising its responsibility to uphold human rights throughout its operations. Human rights due diligence (HRDD) has emerged as a critical practice for companies to identify, prevent, mitigate, and account for potential human rights impacts. Stakeholder engagement forms the cornerstone of this process, offering invaluable insights and fostering a collaborative approach to responsible business conduct.

Stakeholders – suppliers, communities, workers, NGOs, and investors – possess a wealth of knowledge about the human rights context within a company’s sphere of influence. Engaging them empowers companies to identify potential human rights risks invisible to internal assessments, demonstrates a company’s commitment to transparency and accountability, fosters trust and strengthens relationships with stakeholders, and helps to develop solutions that address root causes of human rights issues, ensuring long-term sustainability.

The live session will cover how companies can develop effective stakeholder engagement strategies, looking into:

– Identifying the right stakeholders,

– Bridging understanding gaps between stakeholders,

– Ensuring a level playing field for all voices,

– Building trust through addressing stakeholder concerns.

Supply Chain Due Diligence Manager Certification Course – July 2024

July 2024 batch of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Manager Certification Course

In an era where responsible business conduct is becoming paramount, new regulatory frameworks are reshaping the expectations placed on businesses. The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, which first came into effect in January 2023, specifically places obligations on enterprises with ties to Germany, affecting both German subsidiaries in India and local suppliers.

As the regulatory landscape evolves, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) SustainMarkets presents the “Supply Chain Due Diligence Manager” Certification Course. The 6-week hybrid course is tailored to help companies meet the growing standards for environmental and human rights risk management in the supply chain in line with new due diligence regulations. The course equips participants not just with theoretical knowledge but with practical skills to implement due diligence effectively.
